E-scooter and E-bike “Must Have” Accessories

Owning an e-scooter, e-bike or both is a very personal choice that comes with even a larger variety of accessories options that fits your lifestyle, riding habits and overall terrain. We’ve compiled a small list of important items that will enhance safety, comfort, and convenience during your riding time on your favorite e-scooter or e-bike. Of course, there are many other accessories available in the market, but for now we will only focus on these “must have” items.

e-Scooter & e-Bike Accessories

Helmet

Helmets really shouldn’t be considered an accessory when operating an electric vehicle. For this reason, we believe they are an essential safety item that everyone should wear while riding an e-scooter or e-bike. Since not all states have helmet laws, they are still an option in some areas of the country. We strongly recommend getting a helmet you like that’s comfortable to wear and fits your style so that it will become your constant companion when you’re riding.  Accidents happen quickly on e-vehicle, so having a properly fitting helmet could make all the difference in keeping you safe from serious injury. Please remember e-bikes can go faster and further than e-scooters; therefore, a helmet is a “must have” when operating these types of vehicles.

Lock

The downside of a lightweight and portable e-scooter is that is that can be easily stolen. E-scooters are becoming more popular for shopping and everyday errands, but there isn’t protection built-in to your ride when you go inside a store. E-bikes are popular and expensive, which makes them a target for thieves since they move quickly from the scene and are not easily traceable.  A good lock should help mitigate theft of your e-scooter or e-bike. Several more popular locking options include the cable lock, u-lock and a chain lock. Lock it up when not in-use to protect your ride!

Glasses

Maybe you’re one of those people that needs sunglasses all year when you’re outside. If so, then you’re already ahead of the curve in protecting your eyes from one of many possible irritants. There’s nothing worse than getting a bug or some dust in your eyes when you’re traveling on an e-scooter or e-bike. Trying to navigate or stop quickly at a safe place half blind is not fun, and trying to remove a foreign object in your eye can be downright PAINFUL!  Wearing eyewear, even if it’s just simple sunglasses, will protect your eyes and greatly reduce the chance of potential injury. There are lots of options in eye wear, so find a pair of stylish glasses that will rock a cool vibe while cruising around.

Reflective Clothing

Similar to joggers, wearing reflective gear when riding your e-scooter or e-bike, especially in the darker hours of the day, is a smart idea. Of course, most e-scooters and e-bikes have headlights and taillights, but unfortunately, that’s not much visibility to other motorist when riding in the dark. Most serious bikers wear reflective clothing, but you don’t have to purchase expensive clothing for your daily or recreational trips. Backpacks, helmets, jackets and shoes include some reflective areas to increase your visibility so it’s a good idea to incorporate these into your regular riding apparel.

Cell Phone Holder

While it is never advised to use your phone while driving, people are notorious for oftentimes needing phones for navigation, urgent calls or just having access to favorite music while riding. Having a cell phone holder for your e-scooter or e-bike helps provide access to your phone in a somewhat hands-free environment.  Find a rugged, well-fitting cell phone mount for your e-bike or e-scooter that will firmly hold and protect your phone while you’re touring around town.

Additional Accessories

One additional accessory to make it easier to carry your e-scooter up a flight of stairs or a longer distance is a carry strap.  A strong strap with adjustable hooks and a shoulder pad should be your best choice. For your e-bike, a small tire pump and tire repair kit would be great accessories to have with you if you’re venturing into longer journeys or rough terrain.

Play around with various available accessories that will fit your own personal taste and style. Also, always make sure you follow any local electric scooter riding laws as they are usually different depending on your city or town. Have fun and be safe!
