Helmet Heroes Design Competition
Your chance to win a Shell RIDE SR-5S electric scooter.

Be a Helmet Hero!
If you see yourself as a creative type, Shell RIDE — in partnership with Thousand Helmets — has an interesting proposition: a chance to win a new Shell RIDE SR-5S Electric Scooter and a helmet adorned with your winning design. We’re inviting everyone to take part in our 30-day Thousand Helmet design competition. Show off your talents by creating a one-of-a-kind helmet design.
Nissan e.dams driver Sebastian Buemi will vote on the winner.
Just follow these three steps to join
- Download the Thousand Helmets design template.
- Create your design — by hand or with digital equivalents that let you “draw” free-hand.
- Post your design on Instagram, tagging @ShellMotorsport and @Shell_RIDE and using the hashtags #ShellRIDEHelmetHeroes and #ShellRIDEDesign.
We’re inviting entrants to design an original Shell RIDE helmet. The winning design earns the entrant a new Shell RIDE SR-5S Electric Scooter and a helmet adorned with their winning design.
Competition Terms & Conditions
By entering this Competition, you agree that you meet the entry requirements, and that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Competition terms and conditions.
1. Who we are. The promoter of the Competition is Shell. This Competition is not endorsed by Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media channel.
2. How to Enter. During the Competition Period you can enter by posting your entry on your public Instagram account with the hashtags #ShellHelmetHeroes and #ShellRIDEDesign, and tagging @ShellMotorsport and @Shell_RIDE. You can submit a maximum of four entries. Please follow @ShellMotorsport for updates and announcements. We cannot accept entries received outside the Competition Period or that are incomplete, corrupted, lost or delayed in transit.
3. Eligibility. The Competition is free to enter; no purchase is necessary. It is open to all except employees, officers or personnel of the Promoter or its agents, their families, or any third party associated with the Promoter or involved with administration of the Competition. Entrants under 18 must get consent from a parent or legal guardian before entering. Proof of age and identity may be required. You will be disqualified (and any prize revoked) if you breach these terms, fail to comply with the requirements, provide false or misleading information, or conduct yourself contrary to the spirit of the Competition.
4. Entry Requirements. You must use the design template provided. Your design must show the helmet from the side, top and back; must be original and not copied; must be hand-drawn from scratch (pens, pencils, crayons, felt-tips, paints, or digital free-hand equivalents); must include Shell’s logo; and must not contain any offensive or inappropriate images, symbols or language. Entries must be sent by you personally.
5. Intellectual Property Rights. The template (and all IP rights in it) is the property of Shell and its sponsors, and may be used solely to enter your original design. In submitting your design you confirm it is your original work, that you are the sole owner of all IP rights in it free of encumbrances, that it has not been published elsewhere, and that its use by us will not infringe any third-party rights. You grant us an exclusive, worldwide, sub-licensable, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use your design (including to modify and adapt it to fit a real helmet) and to use your entry information to publicise the Competition. If you win, you assign to the Promoter all right, title and interest in the IP rights in your winning design and waive your moral rights in it, and agree we may commercially exploit it without restriction. You agree to indemnify us against any loss arising from breach of your warranties.
6. Winner selection. Following the Competition Period, one winner will be selected from all valid and eligible entries by Sebastien Buemi on behalf of Shell — chosen at his discretion as the most creative and eye-catching. A short list of four entries will be announced, and shortlisted entrants contacted privately via the Instagram account used to enter. The Promoter’s (and Sebastien’s) decision is final and binding. All finalists and the eventual winner agree to take part in reasonable publicity free of charge.
7. Prize. The winner shall receive one Shell RIDE SR-5S Electric Scooter and a helmet adorned with their winning design. There is no cash alternative.
8. Liability. We are not responsible for expenses incurred in entering, producing your design, or collecting or enjoying the prize. Subject to the paragraph below, Shell, the Promoter and its associated companies and agents shall not be liable for any damage, loss, injury, costs, expenses or disappointment arising from postponement or cancellation of the Competition, changes to or use of the prize, loss of the prize in transit, taking part (or being unable to take part), entries from jurisdictions in which the Competition is unlawful, or any network, computer, hardware or software failures. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
9. Miscellaneous. We may add to, amend or vary these terms, or suspend or cancel the Competition, with notice posted via @ShellMotorsport. We will use your personal information only to administer the Competition and exercise the rights in section 5, and will not pass your details to third parties. Data may be processed outside the European Economic Area. This Competition and any dispute arising from it is governed by English law, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
